Today we made a relatively short run (400 km or 250 miles) from Provo to Grand Junction.
Here we are in Lakeside RV Park in Provo this morning (January 16.)
We climbed the mountains east of Provo and across a lot of snow-covered wide flat valleys. The roads were dry and clear and mostly dead straight. We passed within about 50 miles of Arches National Monument (with the fantastic red rock natural arches) and saw a long ranges of hazy pink mountains in the distance - set off by white snow below and pale blue sky above. The speed limit is 75 mph so we were going about 120 km most of the way.
Here is a view down the highway - along Highway 70 in Colorado.
Grand Junction is a good sized town half way between Provo and Denver. It is located near the Colorado River and has a very pleasant downtown full of sculptures, bare branched trees with twinkle lights and interesting shops.
Tomorrow we hope to get to Denver - where we will be staying until January 23 - while Penny attends the ALISE Conference.
