January 30, 2009 Seminole State Park (Del Rio TX)

Today we have very weak wifi connection so this is just a quick entry.

We left Big Bend this morning and drove to Seminole State Park near Del Rio Texas. We are on our way to Pharr Texas where we will meet the Vagabundos folks who we will travel with in Mexico. We will cross from Pharr to Mexico on Monday, February 2.

Our highlight today was a guided tour of the Seminole Canyon pictographs thought to be three to four thousand years old. They are in the Pecos style which is limited to this area. There are no known descendents of the creators of these cliff dwelling paintings. We have some good pictures that we will post when we have better wifi connections.

Our campsite is beautiful - we also have some great sunset pictures to share later.

On our way we saw some javelinas on the roadside. These are delightful but mischevious creatures that look like hairy pigs but are actually related to deer - pictures to come later.
