Today we made it from Grand Junction to the town of Golden on the outskirts of Denver. It was a relatively short trip but one we had been worried about because we had to cross the Rockies. We took Highway 70 over Vale Pass (10,000 ft) just beyond the famous ski resort. The road is excellent and the truck hardly noticed the climb. It is quite "balmy" in Golden - at least compared to Boise and Grand Junction where the temperature dropped to minus 13 and there was ice behind the seat cushions even though the temperature inside the trailer was over 20. Here it is +6.3 centigrade`and windy - but it is 11 o'clock at night. We will be staying here until next Friday while Penny attends the ALISE Conference.
